Default Phal with black on leaves

I guess that I am a complete novice at this orchid bit. I have some NOID phals that I am trying to keep alive and so am doing OK. My question is what is going on with the one in the photo? Hopefully, the picture will come thru. The leaves are turning black in a pattern that I have never seen.

It's hard to say from the photo, but it could be sunburn. Is it getting a lot of sun or has it been moved from low light to a lot without letting it adjust slowly?

The other thought is a virus can cause patterning on the leaves. I can't tell for sure from the photo-maybe a close-up would help. But I don't think it looks like that. You might want to isolate the plant just in case until you figure it out.

If you can provide some more info such as how long you have had it, where it is growing etc. that might help and maybe someone who has seen this before will chime in.

I have only had it for about 3months. It came from Lowes and I don't know where it came from before that. I am growing under artificial lights and the FC reading is about 1400-1500 at the crown.

Thanks
Gordon

I would consider keeping it away from your other plants. It wouldn't be sunburn under those lighting conditions. Did it have the marks when you bought it? If it was in bloom, were the flowers streaked, which can indicate virus as well. It looks healthy otherwise, but they can be virused and look healthy. Hopefully someone else will have an opinion. You should see if you can Google some photos of a virused phal. I don't know what the patterning would look like for sure.

I would be very suspect of streaky leaf color and segregate it. A close up photo would be great.

Was it this way when you bought it or has it developed over the time you have had it?

The newest leaf is much smaller than the other 2....wondering what is up there.
