Default cattleya

My cattleya's (fighting fish) blooms have all finished. I decided to change the medium because it looked like it was packed in with moss. The roots looked white after I teased away all the moss. I'm wondering if I repotted okay. I put it in a mixture of coco, moss and some bark. I haven't packed it in. It is top heavy so I bought a ceramic pot to keep it up.
Is there something else I should do? fertilize? I don't know much about cattleya's.
Thanks

It looks good to me! Just be careful not to over water it. I have killed many this way, so now I always put a bamboo scewer in the pot, to test for moisure.

The rhizome should not be covered. Partially is okay. But not fully. Other than that. It looks okay

Maybe that's how I killed them! I bought one recently from a grower, that was completely covered, and also over potted. The blooms didn't last long and I suspected that it was already rotting, so I have re potted it. It was rotting. I'll go see how deep I planted the rhizome.

You wouldn't have to repot the whole thing. Just take some of the media off the to

Personally, I wouldn't fertilize yet until the new roots are well under way. I use as many canes as possible to keep mine upright until the roots have taken hold. I had one cattleya with five canes sticking out of it because the plant kept pretending to be drunk by repeatedly falling over. It may not look great but it'll do the plant a world of good because the roots will develop faster if the plant is stable.

My Blc. "King of Taiwan" is very upright but my Cattleya Clark Herman 'Carl', AM/AOS is like Bambi slipping on ice (the cartoon) in that it's all over the place! lol

ok, so I won't pack the medium in to stabilize it and I'll try to find some skewers. It just doesn't look right hanging out of the pot like it's going to flip out at any minute.
BTW what are canes?
