http://www.orchidboard.com/community/parts-equipment/ to read all the posts related to lighting? I know there are several there that would address this question.
Many folks use what is called t5 flourescent bulbs available from hydroponics stores. Others use MetalHydride bulbs. Others have success with simple shop lights from Home Depot. There are lots of issues and lots of things to deal with when moving to a basement. We've talked about lots of them here already.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
