Default FLORA MICRO:

I just finished reading an article in "Orchids" by Alan Koch on growing mini. catts. Anyway, basically what he does is rotate between a macro fert. and a micro fert. ever other week. The micro fert. is called "FLORA MICRO" GENERAL HYDROPONICS
and I'm wondering if anyone on this forum uses or has used the product? Is there any scientific research that foliar feeding with this product or any others actually helps the nutritional health of orchids?

When we purchase orchid fertilizer its your basic macro fertilizer. Macro fertilizer is nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium basic nutrients and is benefical for a garden and when mixed with Micro nutrients consist of boron, iron, copper and manganese to name a few, with this balance your garden will look healthier. I have used this technique back in the day when I use to harvest my own vegetables.

Macro plus micro nutrients will be more productive in growth, well balanced, no different than us as beings having a balanced meal.

If you buy a decent orchid fertilizer, it will be complete with the macros-, minor- and trace elements.

Both Dyna-Gro and GreenCare orchid formulas are quite complete, and I'm sure there are others.

What's funny is that if you look at the label for Flora Micro, you will see that it is actually less than complete in those minor and trace elements, compared to the fertilizers I mentioned, so if you're using it to supplement a strictly-macro fertilizer, you're still not doing so.
