This is a picture of some Phals that i think just had to be artificialy dyed with pink and blue color.
Its not likely that they will have the same strange coloring if they flower again. Picasa Web Albums - Inger - Gothenburg in...
My blue one has the same injection spots on the spike that look blue/purple. I assume that's how the flowers get colored. I think I'm going to attempt it myself with a different color and see what happens.

I have one of these, and am looking for the earlier post with pictures.

A company called Silver Vase has the patent. The phal is 'Blue Mystique' and yes it is a white phal that has been treated with some silver salt - it is not genetically blue. I was told that they would bloom 3 successive blooms, but the web site makes it sound like any future bloom from the treated spike will be blue. Time will tell.

Here's my original post:

Here's RJSquirrels post:
Blue Mystique Phals

The plant and blooms seem to be in good condition. I repotted a few days after I purchased it (1/20/11 I think). It was in full bloom and has lost one blossom so far. Still a dramatic but odd plant.

I saw some similar looking Phalaenopsis at Exotic Plant Company in Franschhoek in early January, and noticed that their roots (at least the velamen) were also stained bluish. I noticed them immediately as they are indeed very striking, but once we decided they were simply white phals that had been somehow dyed, we were less keen and didn't get one.

I bought a blue phal. If you look closely you will see a cut in the stem were the blue dye is injected.
After 2 months blooming I see that the flowers faint. I think indeed it is a white one.
