Default Where can I find orchid pictures that I can use?

I have a number of orchids that have never bloomed for me that I am hoping to sell on Ebay. Since they've never bloomed I don't have any pictures of what the flowers will look like. I know that having pictures is a major thing when you want to sell an orchid so I was wondering if there is anywhere I can get free or inexpensive pictures to use.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

You might try flickr.com
I've often found pictures of hybrids I want to get when the vendor has no bloom photos. If you credit the photographer or link their photostream, you should be fine- emailing the artist to get permission wouldn't be a bad idea either. A lot of the pictures on flickr are open for public use.

You might also make a thread about the plants that haven't bloomed- odds are we can help you figure out how you can change your culture to increase your blooming success.

Without hijacking this thread- the most common cause of not blooming is lack of sufficient light.

Why don't you try visiting a local nursery. They might have some of the orchids you have in bloom. Just take some pictures there. Flickr is a good place to get photos, just make sure you ask the photographer's permission. I for one wouldn't be too pleased if I found one of my photos being used without my consent.

go to flickr advanced search, and search for images with creative commons license for commercial use. If you can't find it there, do a regular search, and ask the pictures owner for permission to use it.

if you took a photo of your computer monitor displaying the photo you want to use probably the copyright would be yours as you generated a photo of a computer screen.
Richard Prince became famous by taking photos of Marlboro ads and also his photo of a photo is the most expensive photo sold as art ever.

Useing photos from the internet is a sore subject with most photographers. Getting permission to use them is the key and makes everyone a lot happier. Plus if your plants are not the exact cultivars being displayed be sure to state that in the ad.

We would be happy to give you any pionters on culture here.

Welcome to OB!

Do you know the names of your orchids you might be able to sell them right on the orchid board. There's over 14,000 members out there.

heck- while you're here, search for the ones you want to sell right here! Someone might have pictures of some blooms that they'd let you use.
