Help with Zygonisia, long Phal spike, and yellowing leaves. Male
Default Help with Zygonisia, long Phal spike, and yellowing leaves.

First and most importantly. I purchased a Zygonisia Cynosure from my local Orchid show two weeks ago. The flower's substance was good and the grower said it had just opened last week*I may be finding this suspect now*
A few days ago, the flower farthest back *thus I am assuming the oldest* began to lose substance rapidly and then it fell off. Now, I'm looking at it today and another one of the flowers is beginning to show signs of wilting as well.

I have it right next to my Propetalum, which was growing quite happily and stayed in bloom for a very long period of time.

It did not, however, have a tray of water beneath it like my Propetalum had. I have acquired and put one under it today.

Any clue if that may have been the problem?

Secondly, one of the inner leaves on my Goodaleara Eurostar turned yellow on me and fell off. Looking at the other pseudobulb on it, they both match as neither has the inner leaf, only the outer one. Is this normal?

additionally, a leaf on my Propetalum has begun yellowing. There is a streak of it running down the centre of the leaf. I am kind of concerned.

Lastly, I have a phal that is in spike and has been for about two months. It's just been growing... and growing... and GROWING. The spike is about a foot and a half long and I am running out of room for the thing! It's in a windowsill and I've had to actually turn it away from the window slightly to try and make it curve a bit because I've quite run out of room for it.

Any ideas or thoughts on what to do? There's a shelf above it which seemed like a good idea at the time, but if this is how big phal spikes normally get... o.O

I can only offer comments on the phal.
The first thing that comes to mind- what kind of fertilizer are you using?
I've seen short and I've seen long spikes- mine have taken months to develop. It might depend on the plant.

Good luck with everything else!
