Vanda Tokyo Blue

I bought a Vanda Tokyo Blue yesterday about 1.5 feet tall( From the base to the tip of the plant) The plant are very healthy with a lots of healthy roots too.

I think it's about 3 to 4 years based on the height of the plant, but doesn't bloom ever since. No old cut spike, but the leaves are continue growing.

What do you think is the problem, because i have a Vanda which is a foot tall and blooms every year.

Maybe not enough sunlight. Maybe it was a keiki that was removed prematurely. Maybe it's just young for that vanda. Size doesn't always matter. I have a vanda that's really young and measures about 6 to 8 inches and it bloomed last year. If it looks patient and getting enough sun, just be patient, it will bloom.

Apparently some vandas can take up to 8 years to bloom.

One of the many reasons why coerulea, ascocentrum and aerides are hybridized with vandas is to make them flower younger and more frequently.

One trick is to give them a "bloom booster" fertalizer to ensure that they have the right nutrients to make flowers
