Temperature Help.... Male
Default Temperature Help....

Hello Members...

It is going to be in the 40's for the next couple of nights in GA...high in the mid 70's

1. Do I need to bring my orchids inside? They are on my porch. I know they need to come inside if there is frost / freeze.

2. Do you think I need to start fall / winter watering and fertilizing (Once a month??)

Thanks

Tonight is our first night for the high 40's. I brought everything in except the large catts and the cyms.

It would help to know what kind of orchids you have. Even among species, the temperature ranges can vary drastically.

What you can do is give them an insecticide treatment, leaves and medium, so that you won't be bringing any unwanted critters into the cozy house. They'll think their in Hawaii and multiply like crazy.
Do it a couple of times, a week apart.

I live in Pa and have brought all my orchids in except for a dendrobium. It would be helpful if you tell us what you have, but as long as there is air movement and is only going to be tonight, you should be fine. In terms of watering and fertilizing, it depends on the plants. Instead you should start slowly transitioning the orchid to the winter culture. Good luck.
