I've also seen orchids sold with rotten moss at the center and bark arround the outside. It's a recepie for disaster.

We will re-pot in bark. Do you have a brand you'd recommend? We have used Sequoia Orchid Bark.

I can't help with brands in the USA (I'm in the UK).

Generally speaking if you can find an orchid specialist on-line rather than getting it from an ordinary store then it should be better quality, but there will always be exceptions.

I guess the Sequoia Orchid Bark brand is fine. Never used it. But if it looks good and doesn't break down quickly for you, then it's okay.
