Default Deep Cut OS meeting and Mediocalcar

I thought I posted this before but I don't see it on the board. ???

Anyway, I went to the Deep Cut OS meeting and had a great time! The people there were super nice, and I enjoyed the lecture by Cordelia on Minatures! They are so adorable!

I picked up a Mediocalcar decorata mounted on tree fern fiber. It's supposed to do well in a viv, and I can't wait to get it in there and growing in it's new home.

I'll take some pics when I can.

I also volunteered to help out on Feb 2 with the show, constructing platforms. It should be fun. For anyone in the NJ area, the show is at Dearborn Market from feb 4-7.

They're from Papua New Guinea. It shares a border with Indonesia.

Don't have much experience with Mediocalcar, so I can't say too much.

Humidity must be taken into account though.

I'm not entirely sure this species is a great beginner's plant. I grew a Mediocalcar versteegii once. I found it to not be easy to figure out right away.

I hope you do well with it. They're cute!

King, I talked to Cordelia, and she chose it as one that had a good chance of surviving in my dart frog vivs where humidity is super high and there's plenty of light. Also, it's appropriate as it will creep along, covering structure while staying a compact "carpet". A very good quality for a viv plant.

I don't know how I'll do with it, but fortunately, the Pres of Deep Cut came over, saw that I bought it, and told me she has one and loves it. At least there's one person I can pester *in person* that has one.

If you have someone who can help you, I think that's great!

They don't appear to be terribly difficult to grow either. People have grown these very successfully.

Keep your eyes on it. If anything seems off, ask for help right away.
