Default Where can I learn... ?

I'm pretty new to this. I did have some orchids about twenty years ago, and at the time I had a couple of pretty good books, but life intervened and that's long gone. I now have about a dozen plants that have been given to me in the last three months and one book, Ortho's All About Orchids which has the imprint of the American Orchid Society. It's very limited, only shows about 15 genera in its "gallery", but seems to be a good starter for beginners.

At this point I'd like to learn more about monopodials. So far I've got three. Two of them have bloomed and I'm sure they are vandas of some kind. I'd like to learn more about other monopodial genera. I don't have a lot of time available to search right now, so can anyone suggest good web sites? I'd also be interested in hearing recommendations for books that I should make part of my library. I'm probably never going to get into propagating or hybridizing, but I probably should learn more about those subjects as well. Oh, yeah, I should mention that I live in Thailand, so I'm more interested in those genera that are native to Asia.

Acharn,

The following website has been a very important tool for me

Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia

The book that I would recommend is Botanica's Orchids.

Oh, wow, the Photo Encyclopedia is wonderful! Thank you. I would like to find some way to search for information based on characteristics of the plant I can see, but I expect the only way is to make use of the Identification section of this board (I'm already getting great help there, by the way).

Botanica's Orchids look like a good beginning. Nice low price on Amazon. Thanks for the suggestion.
