Default two leaves at once

Do phals often shot out two leaves at once? ive only ever seen just one at a time, could be be that its because my plant was in distress and i nearly lost it? its finally recouping but i haven't seen any new roots :/ but it has good roots at the moment. Its in bark, with moss on the top to keep some more moisture in.
i just watered all my orchids aswell, which is why i noticed the two growths

It does not happen very often. But I have seen it a couple of times. The plants it happened to me with did not seem to be in distress.

It's not uncommon, and in my case it's pretty much the rule with my phals. But the second leaf usually starts when the first is quite a bit bigger than yours. I even have one phal which is working on leaf #3 for the season!

I had several Phals do this for me this year-not usual for me, but the plants were healthy at the time (and still are )
