Smile dendrobium spike

My only and precious Dendrobium bloomed whole summer. Now it should end flowering and go dormant for winter (should it?). But a new spike appeared. What a crazy plant, starting new before even ending first one. My question is, is this kind of normal?

They pretty much do what they want to do when they want to do it. I have seen stranger things. Enjoy the blooms.

Not all dendrobiums need a winter rest. If it's one with a lot of Den Phalenopsis in it's parantage then it doesn't. I can't tell from your pics if yours is that sort or not though.

Have to agree with trdyl. They will do what they want. My Den. Super Star x Ise 'Pearl' bloomed this spring, bloomed again all summer, grew two keikis and now has flower spikes on a few of it's branches and I was going to rest it for the winter.
