Default Is this a cymbidium spike?

I have it since year, but only bulbs are growing. The right one seems to be a bulb, but the left one? What you think?

Thanks.

I'm no expert, but they both look like flowers coming through to me. I have the same shoots showing. As I fertilised them once a month, I think it's flowers. That would be nice! In France where I am, they come into flower in December. We'll see the photos soon. OK?

Actually I think it looks more like new growths, based on their location. On mine cym the spikes come up between leaves, and the growths are at the outside, like in your picture. But growths and spikes look very similar in the beginning. I think (but am not sure) that if you gently squeeze it, a spike would feel a bit hollow while a growth would feel solid.

I didn't know you could squeeze a shoot to know if it were leaves or a flower. I'll have to go and squeeze my cyms right away! Thanks for the idea!

They are under 1inch, so small, but both are solid

Okay, then , I'll post photo after few days. I hope one of them will be a spike

I too have a cymbidium that I'm curious if it is spiking. I was given 4 NOID's and they are my first cymbidiums. This one has four of these purple spikes/growths.

I just assumed they were growths and it wasn't happy which is why they were a very dark color...

Any guesses if they are spikes or new growths?

Thanks,
Kristen

You know the saying, "A picture......" Here are some cymbidium spikes just starting out. I trust this helps and the other thing is at this time of year in your climate, I wouldn't expect new vegetative growth.
