Unhappy Unknown Cattleya orchid from beginner

Hi!

I'm a beginner -very green...- orchid grower from Englewood Cliffs NJ. I currently have 3 phalaenopsis and 2 cattleya (Pot. hybrids).

I bought a Cattleya in poor condition from my Lowes store... with the name on it being half broken! As it is growing a new buld, it think it is going to make it trought!

The parents name are:
BLC. Lucky Man x C. Netrasiri.

Could someone help me get the actual plant's name? I tried to use the RHS site, but were not able to get results.

Thanks!

I don't know if it has any other name then the one you provided but I did see a picture of the flower with that cross. Is this the same as yours or haven't you seen a flower yet?

Orquidario Oro Verde- BLC.Lucky Man x C.Netrasiri Beauty

Thanks for the link: it is the same parents! There is no name for the hybrid on their site... I have the last portion of the name on the tag: 'Suwan'... looks like some Sherlock Holmes work... I like it!

I haven't see a flower yet! I hope the new bulb will give some to me, crossing my fingers!

Actually, there is some 4 bulbs, standing around 6-7 inches high. Do you think it is blooming size already?

Anyway, I guess i'll know pretty soon...

No hybrid of Lucky Man and Netrasiri Beauty has been registered unless it was too recent to be listed on the RHS website yet. Some crosses go without a name for many years unless someone has a personal or economic incentive to do it.

A couple of things about names.

You have the full name since the cross has never been registered.

Even when registered many growers like to show remakes by listing the parents to indicate a seed crossing. Mericlones are always the registered name.

Seed crossing may come out looking like the photo that was previously mentioned but can be quite different. You should never consider the flower as a means to identification.

Just like people the child can look like either parent or grandparents or further back.

On my website there is a tutorial on seed crossing where we got 8 different flowers out of the same seed pods.

file:///C:/Users/Jerry_2/aa%20My%20Web%20Sites/orchidsamore/tutorials/Color%20Variations%20in%20Seed%20Grown%20Orchids.h tm

The page is not displaying properly in Windows Explorer but fine in Firefox, it seems Microsoft has changed something again. But enough shows to give you the idea.
