Default Orchids that can hang upside-down

In an effort to maximize my rapidly dwindling growing space, I've hung some of my orchids from the ceiling above my window. My question is, which genera would be comfortable hanging upside-down or at a downward angle? Which prefer to be right-side up? (Leaving out obvious terrestrials, slipper orchids etc.)

Just about any of the Aerangis or Angraecum groups, Phalenopsis, many Dendrobiums, etc. Just about any mounted orchid can hang from the ceiling.

Thanks Ross! I think I'll try it with a few phals and my Jumella cormorensis.

A lot of the asian paphs cling to the side of mountains, so they probably are not averse to being hung from the ceiling. But, just because you hang them doesn't mean they're going to grow downward. I don't know of any plant that would do that. They are all going to grow upwards. They will orient their leaves towards the sun, which normally would be up.

There are a lot of pendulous growing orchids. Many Dendrobiums are actually pendulous growers. Several orchids in the Vanda alliance are pendulous growers as well (except Vandas, they naturally grow upright). All Dichaeas are pendulous growing. A couple Maxillarias are as well. Some Disas grow upside down too. Encyclia citrina grows downwards. Masdevallia caesia does too. Vanillas are vines and don't care about the orientation of the plant itself as long as the leaves face the sun or light source. Leafless orchids such as Chiloschista, Taeniophyllum, Dendrophylax, and Polyrhizza don't care about orientation as long as the surface of the roots are exposed to a light source. As you can see, there're tons, you just have to know which ones they are.

However, like cloudswinger had mentioned, the plants that grow upright, when they're grown pendulous will re-orient themselves to their natural growth orientation.

Do also take into consideration that plants like Draculas, Stanhopeas, Acinetas, Paphinias, Gongoras, Peristerias, Cirrhaeas, and Sievekingias may have vegetation that grow upright, but they have pendulous spikes. Many of these plants are grown in baskets and hung from a high vantage point to view the flowers.

I've seen Brassavola nodosa in Costa Rica growing underneath branches to avoid the scorching sun, but that's probably not a reasonable situation to re-create.

I can add Epidendrum pseudepidendrum to the list of pendant growers.

I don't expect my plants to defy laws of nature and grow in a direction other than sunward- but if the mass of the pbulbs and leaves can be angled downward I have more arrangement possibilities! Would my Lycaste be on the list?
