Default Question on vanda

Hello I'm fairly new to orchids and now have questions about my vanda and my two cattleya.

The vanda bloomed last april/may and now it just keeps growing new leaves but no flower. It is also growing lots of new roots and someone told me that meant it was happy but someone else told me the opposite. Also the tips of the leaves are getting brown and the lower leaves are falling off. Any ideas? If i can figure out how to attach a pix, I will show that.

I have lots of other questions but just trying to see if this works or not.

thanks

Last april meaning april 2005, or 2004? If it hasn't been a full year since it has bloomed, don't worry too much. A lot of orchids are quite seasonal, and may only bloom once a year.

I wouldn't worry about the lower leaves falling off, that happens. If you are getting new leaves faster than the old ones fall, you are doing ok.

Usually people have problems blooming vandas because they lack enough light. Think warm and bright. If you have the ability to give your plant more light, try that.

Default vanda

Thanks , my vanda bloomed in 2005 but the guy I bought it from had told me it would bloom more often that once a year . i am getting lots of new leaves but the tips of them are turning brownish almost like they have been burned.
I'm on the each coast of Florida and the vanda is getting north/east sun under a screened in porch that is unscreened at the moment. It also gets some west sun in the evenings.

I sure hope that it will bloom again, it had the most gorgeous blue/purple flowers
