I moved all my C intermedias from the room out to around the pool and saw a significant improvement, lots of new growths! I'm thinking of experimenting and putting one of them outside in the true full sun

I move my Laelia briegeri into full sun every day the sun shines. Normally it sits in a south window with supplemental CF lighting. It never turned purple and is loving the full sun (new growths.)

Susanne- Have you moved any out yet (into the full sun)? Whenever I do, they always seem to get black, burnt leaves. I am going to try and acclimate this winter/spring a few, then as the sun gets stronger perhaps they will do better! I am going to the WCoast Ochid show in Clwtr next month, then I noticed the Tampa Club has one at USF Halloween weekend...maybe I'll find a few there that can tolerate it. Greg

I forgot to address the "show" part of Greg's post!

I am going to the Tampa Orchid Society show at USF the weekend of 10/31-11/2 with Laura and my friend Linda (catlady here on OB). Dana (irphrog) may come to spend the weekend and go to the show with us!

Maybe some more of us can come and make it an Orchidboard get-together!

I've seen the Tampa club's displays at other local shows but have never been to their show...I'm so excited!!!

Although Halloween is my b-day (yes its true - and as a teacher, my room is always dressed in orange! ) I will go Sat AM. Obviously, I have to teach that Friday, and it is my fav day anyway- lots of scary stories - but I look forward to the show on Sat..A get-together would be great! Let's stay posted. Greg

We'll try for Saturday if more OB folks are going to do this (not that you're not important, Greg )

My buddies and I are usually at the shows the first day but if there's gonna be an OB get-together, I'm sure we'd be willing to go on Saturday...

...or maybe go BACK on Saturday

All of my Cattleyas, Vandas, dendrobiums and Oncidiums are grown in full sun. no shade cloth whatsoever. The only plants that I keep shaded are the Phalaenopsises. They all love the Sun as I get new growths and roots as well.
