Keiki is a Hawaiian word for "baby".

It refers to a baby plant produced asexually by an orchid plant, usually used when referring to Dendrobiums, Phalaenopsis, or Vandaceous orchids.

The baby plant is an exact copy (clone) of the mother plant. They will send out roots while attached to the mother plant and may also bloom. Once they achieve a suitable size, they can be removed and potted up.

Keikis can be induced on some species by the used of hormone/chemical preparations applied to the flower nodes. Sometimes a keiki will form instead of a flower due to cultural reasons and sometimes they are produced spontaneously.
