phal 12'' inch roots

i have reported one of phal because it was growing side way. and the pot look to small. but when i empty to pot
i was surprise to see how the long. the roots where .12'' inch long. it must been happy to be in the small pot. i really had a hard time to re pot it . the roots where to long . i had to twits theme in the new pot . and there where pushing like a big spring there was no bad roots to cut off. maybe it was a bad idea to re pot to bigger pot?. i have a question the size of the pot is very important, to big could be bad.
