Default How to create a vitamin B1 solution?

I have read numerous tips on how to help ease the shock of transplanting orchids by creating a vitamin B1 solution. This solution was also recommended for inducing keikis (if i remember correctly). My question is, how do you make it? Is it as simple as placing a vitamin in water....

while all of the B-complex vitamins are water soluble, as apposed to the "fat soluble" vitabmins, A, D, E and K, I don't know if you can just go to a drugstore or GNC and buy B1 and take some and dissolve it in water. Both SuperThrive and KLN contain B1, about 0.09%. I haven't a clue how many IU's that would be and therefor no idea just how much to mix in a volume of water. If you are friendly with your local pharmist, he may be able to help you in this regard. The bottom line vitamin B-1 is vitmin B-1 in any form.

You can still buy it in liquid form in plant nurseries.

I'm forever amazed that people are willing to risk their valuable (in money or emotionally) orchid plants to home remedies. I know that you may save some money by doing it yourself but you lack quality control both on technique and substance. If you want a B1 solution for your orchids or other plants, buy that which is designed by people who know what they are doing (and are liable for their actions.)

You can find it at a nursery or home improvement store that carries plants. It is supposed to ease transplant shock.

I believe home depot and lowes carry it in a gallon sized jug, it is usually used for transplants to ease the shock of being moved. I wouldn't try dissolving any vitamins in water, just in case there is something else in them that may damage your plants.

I would rely on tested and trusted products like the ones mentioned. They do have other nutrients and micro-minerals that are beneficial to the plants rather than just one single vitamin.

Nothing wrong with home remedies, but it doesn't work for everyone since we all grow in different conditions. I tried the warm water + sugar bath before, it ended up in a huge mess of fungus problem. After that, I revert back to the trusted products and my plants and I are both happy. Just my
