Default Aruba. Orchids? Other???

I'm leaving for a week long vacation in Aruba today.
Any orchids native to the island?
What about other interesting plants?
Nurseries?
A Kew search of "orchidaceae" in the Caribbean gave me 947 hits but I have no idea what is native to Aruba
Any other advice from those of you that have been here would be nice. Thanks all- Mateo

There's bound to be. I'm curious now.

Yes I agree, there has to be. It is only a few miles off the coast of Venezuela but I've also been told the island is quite arid.

I would just guess many of the Caribbean Epis, Tolumnias, and others will be found there. As to what you actually find to purchase, that may be up to what greenhouses are there.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Just googled aruba orchids. This was the first result:

Aruba Facts - Aruba News Desk - Newsletter October 1 - 31, 2002

Not much info, but they do have an orchid society that you might contact for more details.

I've written to: sociedaddiorquidiaaruba@yahoo.com
Hope I get a response. I will also try the additional contact you've provided.

I will have to read up on Caribbean orchids in general I guess.
