Another Sedirea cry for help!

Well I saw the other post on help needed with a Sedirea and I didn't want to highjack the thread, but it reminded me I have been meaning to ask you all for help!

My little Sedirea japonica Minmaru for the project plant arrived in great condition. Potted in a small pot of sphag moss and it came in spike and has flowered. I have noticed that the leaves starting at the bottom, have been one by one, getting a wrinkled look but staying green, and when I gently tug on them they fall off, and like I said, it only happens one by one, so I have lost a total of 3 or so leafs since receiving it, with another one to be lost shortly. I am just trying to figure out if I am under watering it or over watering it I try and let it get almost dry in between waterings and watering is usually about once a week. Does anyone have any advice? I looked at the roots, and most I can see anyways as it is potted kind of like the traditional style for Neo's, and the roots look good. Some look dark, but they are firm. When the medium dries a bit the roots look dark colored, but once I water they get a green color to them.

Anyways, if anyone has survived reading my long cry for help I would really really appreciate any advice or help!

Like I have posted before, I have two Neos - one is mounted and does pretty well, the other is potted (thanks to me) in a fine orchid bark mix. It does extremely well. Lots of new roots and really long green tips on the roots. Has gown maybe 4-5 new leaves and not lost a single one. It's in a clear cone pot. I really don't think these guys like sphagnum. Just my opinion.

Becca, I had that with my Minamru too at the beginning (However, I lost only one leaf!) I was a bit concerned and started doing some research on the weg, and contacted the vendor I got the plant from. All the information I could retrieve was that Sedirea do not want to be dry between watering. They like to stay moistened but not dry! since then I keep both plants (Minamru and standard) always moistened and have not lost any leave at all after that

the roots look dark but firm, as you say, but I think it is more due to algae growing on them (at least in my case). Once I water they look very greenish and healthy...

Does anybody else here have similar experience or other advice?

Ross, do you mean the Sedirea or the Neo's don't like to be potted?

Hi Ross, I have both plant in Sphag and they are doing well... I also found that the trick is to keep the roots on the "surface" of the Sphag, covered by a very thin layer of Spahg... and not growing inside of the Sphag ball...

I will try not to let it dry in between waterings and see if this helps. I will still have at least 4 leaves remaining after the next one falls off. I think you are also correct about the roots, you described my roots exactly, they do look like they have algea on them. Thanks Ramon!

Thats ok Ross! As for Neo's I am starting to think my don't like to be mounted either. I have been wanting to mount them, but have been to lazy to do it. Do you have any pictures of your mounted Neo's in your gallery?
