What's a signature?

While browsing through the User Control Panel, I saw a section on "signature". What is it and how do you set it up? Thanks. FredFarmer

It's a block of text automatically added to each of a user's posts, like in the lower left of this one,

On the User CP panel, go down to "Edit Signature" and click on it. It will bring up a box similar to the one where you reply on a thread. Type whatever you want to appear in that box then click out of it to somewhere else. Next time you reply to a thread, or start one of your own, it should appear at the bottom of your post. If you don't want it to appear, click the button below the thread you're replying to that says "Show your signature" and it won't appear on that particular reply.
