Default Orchids from Trader Jpe's

Hi ALL,

I bought a couple of orchids from Trader Joe's, those look like Zygo and Oncidium hybrids. I am wondering if someone knows the IDs of these. orchids.

Thanks in advance.

The first two are, indeed, Oncidium intergeneric hybrids. The third is a Zygopetalum hybrid. It's not possible to name them for sure because so many hybrids look so similar. The best you could do is, "looks like X."

Also there are a lot of mass-produced orchids that are never given names.

What were the prices? I may need to start shopping at TJ’s again.

TJs has good prices, but their current vendor states on their Web site they will not provide names. It may not be important for most people, but you will never be able to show them for an AOS award.

Thanks, that's a good idea to tag as "looks like X."

Hi Dimples,

Those were $17.99 each, a pretty good deal, worth checking if TJ is near to you. I went two weeks back they had something that looked like Miltoniopsis but I was not able to find it this week, I should have bought them last week

Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken (and I just got up) or my eyes are too blurry the first one is Odontonia Pacific Paranoia 'Other Side Of Kool'. This is flowering in my bathroom as we speak.

Thank you.

Apologies for the late reply, I just saw your reply. I accidentally found the name and labeled it two days back as Odontonia Pacific Paranoia 'Other Side Of Kool' and I am glad the name is confirmed.

Thank you so much.

I've been tempted by those 3 but have resisted. The only downside of these is they are potted in a potting soil like mix that needs to be discarded at first opportunity.

Trader Joe's "Wake Up" coffee blend is my go to, so I fight the orchid temptation weekly. I had to buy this very fragrant mottled leaf phal last week though.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's. I go into Lowe's about 4 or 5 times a year...almost never see anything but phals.
