It is best to treat all your plants, including the Vandas as bush snails do just fine without medium, hiding in nooks and crannies of leaves and roots (my second infestation began with some bare-root mounted orchids I had bought).

Some people say that coffee and coffee grounds work on other types of snails but I have seen no evidence of this. Coffee does a great job on bush snails, though.

Good luck!

Is there a particular manner with which you apply the coffee to the plants, that has been found to be effective?

I need to treat about 40 plants, most are in a cannabis type grow tent, all my bigger plants are in my sun room. All will have to be taken to the kitchen to avoid mess.

The method I had devised was to soak the plants and media with coffee, let sit for 30-45 minutes, then flush with RO water.

Search the Board with a keyword "coffee" ... and there are even some notes farther up in this thread. It has been discussed in quite a bit of detail from time to time.

I actually used pure caffeine powder on my plants diluted with water. The plants did not like it and I nearly came out of my skin from inhaling the caffeine powder!

Thank you for the info! I treated about half of my collection today, and am keeping them separate from the rest until I can get the rest treated, and will re treat in about 10 days to get any stragglers and juveniles that may have hatched from eggs. I probably would have treated the rest, had I not found several mounts that were rotten, and decided to re do those. As it turns out, rotten wood is a wonderful hiding place for little snails…
