Cannot remember type of orchid. Male
Default Cannot remember type of orchid.

Hello all,

I had a memory of a kind of miniature orchid that was related to miltoniopsis but I cannot remember its name.

I remember there being some kind of miltoniopsis adjacent miniature with smallish, white flowers that was popular at one point.

Does anyone know what I might be talking about?

I don't think that one is it, though that one is nice. I remember it being a kind of one-off genus related to Oncidiums that looked like Miltoniopsis phalaenopsis. I remember it being something that made sprays of white flowers. Maybe it had a name that started with Mytsa or Mycro or something like that?

I don't think this is what you are looking for, but Ionocidium Popcorn maybe? It's in the Oncidium group and makes sprays of white flowers.

Twinkle? That's the only tiny white oncidium-like orchid I can think of.

Capanemia superflua or another Capanemia? Clusters of white flowers. Or Osmoglossum puchellum? Not clusters, but small white fragrant flowers.

Notilya albida or another Notilya? A Rodriguezia?

I looked through Orchdiwiz filtering on Oncidium tribe, and looked for small white flowers. So an unscientific "eyeball" search.

I think it might have been a Rodriguezia of some sort. That name is sounding familiar. Maybe I only dreamed about it though . I remember it being something billed as being like a miltoniopsis, but easier and smaller. Maybe it was Capanemia micromera. I just remember the flowers being more like mini pansies.

The mini-pansies sounds more like Rodriguezia. Capanemia tend to be pure white. Here is Rodriguezia decora, some other species of the genus might be closer to what you remember.
