Phalaenopsis Spike or Root?
Default Phalaenopsis Spike or Root?

I've been keeping orchids for over a year now. Is this what I think it is or is this another root? Do spikes grow out between the leaves at all?

spikes will have little mittens look like a glove on the tip . I think I see mittens, but give another week to sprout up some then you will know for sure. growing new roots are always good though. Yes, spikes can grow n between the leaves and so can roots. Spikes can also grow on phals from the center or crown of the plant, called terminal spikes.

dont just keep orchids, grow them too

My guess is that it is a spike! Definitely not a root. If not a spike, then it could be a keiki. Time will tell.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! It's still a thrill for me every time I see the beginnings of a new spike on any of my orchids. I'm leaning toward spike on yours, but you should know for sure in probably less than a week.
