Much of Travaldo's blog appears to be copied from elsewhere.

If you can cough up the cash, Orchidwiz is an amazing resource for general cultural requirements. It mostly consists of the Bakker sheets, but is also far more than that. Orchidwiz will be stopping at the end of the year, after that it's no longer available for purchase. I'm going to upgrade mine (got it 10 years ago) so that I have the most up to date version.

You can also skip OW and buy the Baker sheets directly for $1 per species here: Orchid Culture -- Charles and Margaret Baker

If you want to get a few specific ones, yes. But if you want to have all of them, there are well in excess of 4700 of them in OW. Those onesie-twosies add up. OW also does a pretty good job of cross-referencing the name changes - helpful in translating a tag to the genus du jour.

Whatever information you look at, do be extremely careful and remember that what works for one person might not work for another. Different locations, different composts, different fertilization, different environmental sites like indoors/outdoors/windowsill/greenhouses, different climate etc., etc. What works well in Florida might not be appropriate in Italy.
It is all about understanding the context of the information coupled with understanding the plant natural habitat needs.

They are, but the existing software will continue to work, as long as MS Windows continues to have support for the Access data engine (which I think will be a very long time). There just won't be updates. But there is still a wealth of information in there - the Baker sheets, the cross-references of names, culture, all of the registrations up to this December, many thousands of photos. So there are lots of reasons to get it before it stops being available. What is in there won't go obsolete, it just won't get added to.
