An update. I was concerned about the Doritaenopsis Tzu Chiang 'Sapphire' dropping buds. Last night I caught my youngest son playing with and squeezing the buds! What can I do? I'll just need to move it somewhere a little less accessible. Despite this abuse it is blooming nicely now.

Yell lovingly a lot. Cats and kids tend to lose interest after a while.
