New Cattleya + Pot Question Male
Default New Cattleya + Pot Question

Hello all,

I just received a new cattleya in the mail I had been searching for for a very long time. It is Rlc. Calm Seas. I got it in the mail bare root and it has several new growths and very long roots but *all* the tips are dried up. Is this going to be a significant problem?

Secondly, I am out of pots so I have to use an older one.
I know this question has been asked a trillion times probably.

Is soaking it (a plastic repotme pot full of mesh and holes) in clorox and some water enough? I don't even remember using the pot but it was in my garage on the floor and fairly stained and dirty with soil, dust, and spilled fertilizer.

If it has only long roots together with new growths, it means the new roots didn't start to grow. So it's the best time to repot.

About the old pot, I wouldn't worry much about it. Wash it with a weak bleach solution.
