I blast mine with 7000 footcandles in winter and then subject it to a half day of full sun in summer. It loves it and the leaves magically do not burn. I am in Maryland btw.

I disagree here. Mine grows great even in very cold nights in the 40s. The leaf drop I have noticed has to do with lack of humidity and water as opposed to temperature in my experience. I get 4 to 5 leads each season.
Now I want one even more, it should do fine in my back yard. Where there is room for a monster.

I had one potted in pumice, watered every day by a sprayer. I don't think it was enough water. Next time wet sphagnum.

Ecuagenera offers them occasionally. They are small seedlings. In past years I was told by an expert grower they tolerate any amount of heat if relative humidity is high. He said my occasional 116 F / 47C would not be too hot.

I think your extra low humidity is the problem, I mean 116f with like a humidity of 2% is a little intense…. I can’t see how any tropical orchids could survive that!

My growing area runs 60%-80%, sometimes 100% on cool winter nights. I use an evaporative cooler to try to keep it below 85-90 F / 29-32C.
