Default uploading images;help again

Hi Folks,
I am new to this forum and until I figure out how to upload images from my computer, I'm doomed. I created the new thread. I then did as advised and went to manage attachments. I selected the 3 images to upload. I clicked upload and it seemed to work but then came back with a message that said they weren't "a valid image file."I am just using jpegs. So, what am I doing wrong? Should I be resizing things? I see that there is an attachment key in the manage Attachments section, but it seems to be there for information only.

If you use a microsoft windows computer, then you could download the free and excellent photo editor called 'paint.net' ------ it is really called paint dot net.

And see if you can open your images with it. They have file extensions with .jpg, right?

You can then also use paint.net software to resize the image to approximately 1024 pixels (width) by 768 pixels (height), and then try to upload again ...... using this method shown here.

Hi Southpark, Many thanks for your reply. The problem is that I'm on a mac. I should have mentioned that before. If the issue is size, I think I can figure out how to reduce the size before upload.

Most welcome S.B.

That might be a good test. Resize to a smaller size ----- and save as a .jpg file ....... and see if the upload works after that.

I agree, try resizing. There is a max file size, but I'm unsure what it is (though it's much larger than what is listed in the file attachment window).

On a mac, I think it's done in the photo preview window, then if you go to 'file' there should be an option to Adjust size/resample image.

Enlarge the file upload box. It shows maximum file sizes at the bottom. I am able to upload much larger files but they wind up being reduced automatically.

What I noticed is that ----- even a 1024 x 768 image when uploaded is not the same as what we eventually end up with after the upload. So if we upload a 1024 x 768 image that might be say 300 kB. But after upload, that file ends up (still as a 1024 x 768) further 'compressed' ------ could end up as small as 70 to 90 kB. That is - there can/will be a reduction in image quality.
