I knocked off 4 inches of a budding spike. Any chance I will get one of the nodes below the budding area to branch and produce new buds this year or do I have to wait another year.

I have segrated my six budding spikes in a low crate waist high on a table, so they have lots of room and I dont accidenty brake another.

Question on budding phals...do they need the same temp as all my others ?? I have them across the room from all my other varities of orchids near an east window.

The budders have morning sun, very little, from sky light horizonal high windows. they are closer to my heat source. Not sure where else I can put them I have white adobe walls thoughout my home that reflects light well.

I'm assuming that these are Phalaenopsis... the only concerns with regard to conditions are that you don't change their orientation with respect to light (they'll follow the light, and so if you change the orientation you'll get twisty spikes that are less attractive) and they may be more sensitive to drafts and changes in temperatures. As for the broken one there's always a chance for a branch. No certainty, though.
