Can anyone tell me if this is a flower spike emerging from the new growth or not? I got this 6-8 months ago maybe, don't know a whole lot even about them and there's little info on the internet already. Thanks

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

I can't be sure yet, but it's coming from the correct place at the correct stage of development of the new growth.

Thanks! Hopefully! I'll be really impressed if it is one. I never thought I'd have any luck growing one like this. I thought maybe a new growth, but none of the other pseudobulbs split into 2 like that.

I repotted it in the spring after I bought it, and it didn't do so well. Lost a ton of leaves but now it has 3 or 4 new growths and a lot of new roots

You can read about Zygopetalum culture here. Look for it in the Forums accessible from the left yellow menu.

In general they like cool, humid, very bright and well-aerated conditions, especially at night. They have fewer leaf spots with very pure water rather than mineral-laden tap water. If you've ever been in a cloud forest, or a redwood forest on a cool misty morning, you have experienced what they like.
