Hey everyone,

My husband was being nice and bought me this really interesting orchid. It's named Bratonia Dark Star . It's a seedling and I've never have bought a seedling . I'm too impatient and always want one of "blooming size" when I buy .
So now that I have one . How long do I have before it will be "blooming" size ?

It's really hard to answer that question, because plants - even different specimens of the same plant - grow at different rates, and that is hugely affected by your culture.

This might give you some insight into that.

Judging by the size and number of growths, and knowing a bit about that particular hybrid, I'd say maybe a year in really good conditions and overall treatment, maybe 2 or 3 if something is lacking.

Thanks Ray. I sort of thought that maybe the answer but still wanted to ask for the insight. Thank You

Intergeneric Oncidiums are some of the fastest blooming orchids from seedling sized mericlones. With good light and warmth they put out new growths all year, and each should be larger than previously. They let you know quickly when you aren't watering enough - the newest parts of the leaves develop horizontal pleats.

I agree with Ray, 1-2 years depending on conditions. Best of luck!!
