I've been reading up on grow light as supplemental lights for the winter. Michigan is cold, cloudy and dreary from mid-October through March. I have a very limited amount of natural sunlight.
Right now I am using stand alone LED lights but I am considering converting a room downstairs as a grow light room. If I do that I am looking at either a SPIDER FARMER LED Grow Light Dimmable SF-1000 Grow Lights Compatible with Samsung LM301B Diodes & MeanWell Driver or a EnFun Updated 2000w Led Grow Light 4x4ft Dimmable Driver Commercial Indoor Hydroponic Greenhouse Veg Bloom 576 LEDs.
Does anyone grow under lights exclusively or "seriously"?
If so any ideas or recommendations?

In a room, with a varied collection of plants, some are going to require a great deal of light, others will want different degrees less. Trying to accomplish that with a single, large fixture is difficult. Instead, consider using different wattages and distance from the lamps to the plants to "tailor" areas in the room.

For example, let's say you grow vandas, cattleyas, phragmipediums and phalaenopsis. The vandas could be close to a couple of 30 watt LED strips, while the phals could be a farther distance from some lower wattage ones.

Take a look at the lamps sold by theorchidhobbyist.com. They are well manufactured, with pretty exacting spectra and are probably the best light source for the dollar you'll find. With an idea of what plants you have and the kind of space you have for each kind, Jeff Young (the owner) can likely help you get just what you'll need.

Take note of your plant's light & temp requirements, how you plan on setting up the grow area, and how often you want to water, before deciding on lighting.

Other things to consider are fans or a humidifier.

Here are some pics of my tent as currently configured.

I'll second Ray's recommendation.
I put together a shelving rack set-up this summer in my NH basement with 2 of the Orchid Hobbyist LED strips on each shelf and the plants I have are growing nicely.

So I decided on a grow light. I purchased the EnFun Updated 2000w Led Grow Light 4x4ft. My husband doesn"t like the look of hanging lights with all wires and stuff so I am thinking of putting them downstairs.
I've heard of people growing orchids in closets, etc. Does anyone gros orchids without natural light (over winter)? The lights are very bright and there's a good place in a work room in the basement. Any thoughts?
