From what I see...Yes! The new growth resembles a mitten. Has the plant bloomed previously? Way to go.

fresh pic!

i got some blooming food for when it starts.
I’ve been/still using — not everytime — the MSU feed. But now I have this miracle Gro 11-35-15 for during blooming.
ps. any comments on the ‘mitten’? look typical? OK, just search some pictures and it looks perfectly typical as far as I can tell.

fyi, that old spike in the picture is cut back just beyond where you can see it. i’m thinking of cutting back farther, But I’m thinking enough for now and I probably shouldn’t bother it.

Congratulations!

Most people no longer recommend switching fertilizers. The old idea was to switch from a regular fertilizer to a so-called bloom booster to induce buds. You already have a spike. Plus it has been shown switching fertilizers isn't necessary.

You can cut off the old spike at any time, or leave it. I like to leave old Phal spikes, because they may grow and bloom again.

Thank you!
I thought it was more to maintain or prolong blooming.
Oh well!
Thanks, estación seca!
