Early - thanks very much. You are a very good sort. Also very nice to hear of your links with Australia, and for letting me know there was a close fire call in So. Cal. I had definitely seen and heard on the news about those fires.

Also - the help from United States volunteers in the recent Australian bushfires won't ever be forgotten.

unfortunately my friend Rae, KateDU she was called, was a smoker and died of lung cancer that was miss diagnosed until too late. In my bedroom I have on my wall a frame needle work tapestry she sent me of gum trees and a house. She could do anything. I sent her an amish doll for her granddaughter. Amish dolls have no face, but wear a beautiful skirt made of an antique pillow case. Her GD said is she is an Amish doll, I am going to call her Amy. We exchange many things over the years and I miss her terribly. We called every month, her husband called me darlin, and I also got to know her parents via phone who spent time in Queensland; She invited me to come for a month, but I had Lyme Disease and was very ill then and could not go; sigh

New Mexico sent some fire fighters I believe. Always happy the US reaches out to help our closest friends down under.

Early ----- treasured memories and experiences like that are just fantastic. Definitely sorry to hear about the cancer and the result of it! The beautiful thing is the fantastic experience and the memories of it - and making international connections and friends like you did.

After my parents died the same week and younger brother five months before, I was alone in our family farm that I brought from older brother. Rae in Victoria sometime said she could see me in a black hole with just my eyes peaking out. That first year and the friendship that developed over the next several years, literally pull me up out of my grief and helped me to see life again and shortly after I moved to the southwest, and felt so happy here, she was gone, Last photo of her was shortly before that and she was on a mechanical bull with her hand in the air, A very wise and heroic fighter until the end.

Early. I mean this sincerely. While this thread has been hijacked, you are a VERY interesting person with lots to share!

I think I can speak for most of us when I say I would like to see an introductory thread about your life. We used to do that in the "off topic forum." We titled the thread "Orchid Sunday. " That might be a fun way for us to get to know each other better, (again) and you could start us off.

I think that is a most excellent idea Dolly. If Early doesn't soon, I will! Certainly not as interesting a life as some, but it does help to "humanize" folks, if you will, and especially new folks. Kudos for the idea! Imma go look for that thread. Maybe a bump is in order?

Great Idea Dolly. I live alone and tend to blab when I feel up to it. I will start the "Orchid Sunday" later today. I have lived 78 yrs and have had lots of work experiences and lots of adventures.

I am sorry I have gotten off topic often, And for sticking my nose into a post when I had no "dog in the fight." I have in the past seen special web sites go down hill when that become the topic. However, Most have you have been here years and I had no place defending OB, I am just too new.
