Default roots?

Hello, 👋

Would you please tell me if these roots are ok?
I repotted several weeks ago.

The 4th attached photo should be just after repotting, the previous two 2 are now (both sides). And one of the plant, also now, for good measure!

Sometimes I think I should repot again and clean up the root system better? Perhaps after the flowers leave?
Or is everything ok?
The woodiness, apparent dying? IDK

I will say that before my repot, there weren’t such top root exposure — with only what it was like originally to compare, I thought I repotted too shallow.
Eg, now there appears to be a root tip growing upwards! (if it’s even growing — you can see it in the photo).

Thank you!

Looks good to me. New root is always good... whether in the pot or in the air, it's growing. (And with a Phal, it can do either one or both) Remember, orchids don't do anything fast. Reasonable time frame for "feedback" from the plant is measured in months, not weeks or days. Leave it alone and let it do its thing.

I second Roberta. It looks fine to me. Most of mine have these woody looking exposed roots. Whenever I try to give one of my Phalaenopsis some TCL, it’s usually at least a month or two before I see a response from the plant.

If you want a high maintenance plant, I recommend a bare root Vanda indoors. I have four. They get a nightly soaking, get re-hung in their windows every morning, weak fertilizer every few days, and my interference with my other orchids is kept to a minimum ;-)

Indeed, a cure for the desire to fuss too much over one plant is to have lots of them so that the attention is spread around, and there are only so many hours in the day.
