Will an orchid tumble impact flowering? Male
Default Will an orchid tumble impact flowering?

Hello All,

I was watering in my greenhouse when something not great happened.

Somehow, the specimen size Rhy. Aristocrat that was hanging from the rafters unclipped out of its wire pot hanger and fell several feet to the ground and came out of its pot. Not only that, to add some human injury to orchid injury, On the way down, the orchid and pot hit me square on the nose fairly hard (still hurts) .

More importantly, when the plant fell and unpotted itself, the plant also had a bud that is just beginning to open. Will the fall and tumble out of the pot negatively impact the flower/bud? I was planning to bring it to my club show table next week.

I had tried my best to pot it again without disturbing the roots too much.

Probably no problem at all, unless the bud hit something while doing its daredevil act.

Ouch! If you get a visible bruise, you need to have a good story ready about the fight that the orchid won...

I think your orchid must be a relation of most of mine! After reading 'Phal abuse stops here' when I had just the one orchid, whenever I walk in a supermarket and see an orchid display I imagine them all jiggling around to catch my attention and singing Rescue Me! (Aretha Franklin) and would you believe loads of them have jumped (all by themselves!) into my trolley?

Hope it survives OK
