A squatter! - Orchid Board

This is more of I thought it was cute and wanted to share than an actual question but if I’m missing some hidden danger let me know

I found this guy hiding in my orchid. I think it got in when I opened the screen door to sweep the floor. It does not seem to have harmed the orchid any - it’s in a pretty solid phal and is kind of cute.

No danger, unless you're a bug. They're strict carnivores.

Yep, cute little thing! I have found tree frogs in my house on a couple of occasions. The first one, I found in one of my orchid pots. I carefully captured it and returned it to the outside. The second time, it was just on my kitchen floor, and capturing that one was a challenge! (It went under the stove to hide.) If I had a greenhouse, or even if my orchids were on an enclosed porch, they would be welcome to stay, but since I don't, they get put back outside when I find them.

I must be going blind, I couldn't even tell what it was. Assuming that it is a tree frog, I've had them hiding out in one of my bromeliads (Billbergia) when the were outside for the summer and no harm.

Honestly, I wasn't sure what it was, either, from the picture. It could be some type of lizard? I just mentioned tree frogs in my post as a type of visiting creature I have seen on my orchids.

Hopefully, Maru will clarify what exactly it is.

brown anole is my guess- good guy to have around

unless you are scared of them, i always welcome lizards and geckos into my patio and home.

they will eat bugs and stay out of your way...i have one or two green annoles on every one of my vandas...they run the world within the roots and i never see any pests

I think it’s some sort of tiny lizard

My orchids are on a back porch screened with mosquito net so I don’t mind this little guy coming for a visit. I’m not scared of them but I was scared I would squish it if I tried to catch it so I left it snoozing on the flower. Most my phals are sending out flower spikes (this one was a rescue so I guess it was confused and bloomed early) so it will have more colors to choose from flower wise soon.
