Best Orchid of the Month Club?
Default Best Orchid of the Month Club?

Ha! So my hubs generally needs "help" in the gift department. I mostly tell him not to get me anything because 1) I always buy what I want/need for myself, and 2) his go to is jewelry (yeah I get it-I'm complaining about jewelry).

So, I thought I could drop a hint for Christmas this year. Orchid of the Month!!! I love the idea of being surprised with an in bloom orchid each month, though I'm very hesitant on not having any control in the matter.

Has anyone done this? Which vendor? I hope to not get phalaenopsis each month-this is a worry since it will be late winter/early spring shipments. I see Hausermann's and Seattle Orchids both do this, so I would lean towards them (though I have never bought from them-just know they are very reputiable).

Any opinions would be appreciated!

Might be worth also taking a look at this thread that was active about a month ago... some ideas on the subject from quite a few members.
Orchid of the month clubs - Worth it? Good ones?

A thought, something that would make life easy for the spouse but give you the chance to choose orchids that are suitable for your growing area and that you really would like to get... make your own "club" - spouse gives you a "gift certificate" that you can "spend" at your discretion... actually of course the money (to be undisputed) comes out of the community pot, but there's something to wrap up and put under the tree.

I think you are not facing your addiction right in the eyes.
So, you've found a strategy to cover it.

The orchid companies should do some charity work and set up rehab programs for the chronically affected.

What? I'm shocked and frankly appalled you would suggest that I am manipulating this glorious holiday known as Christmas to supplement and justify the need to diversify a collection of plants.

Never!
