Default Sun Damaged Phalaenopsis- is it saveable?

Made a GIANT rookie mistake- I left out a phal in the sun on accident- and got the most damage out of all of them- loosing more than half of its leaves and received damage on its core & surface roots, along with loosing more than half of those as well. It looked like it was going to be OK at the beginning but seemed to be going downhill 3 weeks later. I feel so guilty, and im convinced that it’s non-recoverable; or am I wrong, any help on second opinions?

orchidlauren. From the looks of that photo ----- that orchid - as it appears - has a fair chance of being recoverable. But as usual - only time will tell, and depends on what we do right now to make the most of attempts to save it.

Just pop it in some suitable size growing media - eg. scoria (5 to 10 mm diameter), OR maybe 10 to 20 mm orchid-quality bark (and pre-wet the bark in advance in a bucket or pot before potting). Good size drainage holes in the bottom of the pot (eg. black plastic pot).

Then just put the plant in a spot with gentle air-movement, and medium light level. It has a chance to recover if it's not rotting. If any rotting is detected, then application of a systematic fungicide would be beneficial - just in case.

Find a spot (if possible) where this orchid can just grow without needing to move it around. A spot that has relatively good lighting, and good air circulation, and comfortable temperature.

I agree that it does look salvageable. I just have a few extra comments. Be careful not to overpot it, there aren't many roots so a pot which is too large won't dry out fast enough. I would also cut off that spike, even if there are still flowers (can't see from the photo) to let the plant concentrate its energy on growing.

With lots of TLC it has a good chance of recovering I think, it's certainly not the worst we're seen here!
