Default Brown rot in cattleya bulbs

Hello everyone:
Today I am sad because I had to cut two pseudobulbs from a small plant that is already blooming for the first time. The plant looked strong but in a review I was doing I saw that it was going up like a hard rot in the stems, I took out the plant and the transplant, the roots were good and active. When cutting the diseased pseudobulbs, I noticed that the center was healthy but there was a reddish area as if it were a fusarium, or perhaps it could be rotting by Rhizoctonia, I applied Daconil, what else can I do? I would like to hear your advice. Regards.

What growing medium are you using merita?

Sorry to hear about the rotting. You're likely doing the best you can already - by having noticed the rot, followed by systematic fungicide treatment.

Does this orchid grow outdoors? Does it get good air-circulation too around the leaves and around the growing media and roots? Just double-checking only.

Maybe a repot into new media could be beneficial too at this moment.

Yes, these cattleyas grow outdoors in pine bark substrate, I have had problems with insects but very few diseases. The breeze is never lacking and my plants grow fast. I bought this baby about 6 months ago in a bag of Better Gro and it was going to bloom, some develop very fast. I have thiomyl too, I will wait a few days to apply it. This is not black rot.

Sounds like generally nice growing conditions there. No recent big rains etc?

Thanks for mentioning you have thiomyl! I purchased some from usa, along with other 'goodies'. Haven't had to use them yet, and hoping I never have to. But always good to be equipped! Just in case.

I have not used it either but when I bought the Orthene 97 for the thrips, I also acquired the thiomyl.
