Default Spathoglottis Blues

A few weeks ago a bought a Spathoglottis Mello Yellow at a local nursery that I brought home and re-potted into a slightly larger plastic pot than it was in.

It has done nothing but go down hill ever since. First the flowers and buds turned brown, then many of the leaves turned brown and fell off.

I added some slow release fertilizer when I re-potted and used high quality potting soil. Anybody have any thoughts?

What medium was the plant in when you brought it home? Spathoglottis is, indeed, a terrestrial that is likely to be OK in well drained potting soil, but a lot depends on what else is there. If it was in bloom, disturbing it wasn't good... new roots will establish in new medium, but there is usually a "shock" factor. Potting soil often has time-release fertilizer in it, and adding more, in the fall when growth is probably slowing down, may also have had deleterious effects. Even if your area is tropical, day length still says "autumn".
