Self-rejuvenating mini phelanopsis - will it thrive?

I bought two of these from a local supermarket and later re-potted them with orchid compost into slightly larger pots. One is doing fine but the other smaller one kept falling out of its new pot so about 3 months ago I stopped watering it and put it on the kitchen window ledge with the intention of throwing it out. Although one leaf went yellow and came off, two weeks ago it suddenly put out two new roots so I re-potted it and it seems to have developed a new leaf. Do you think it will survive after all that trauma?

Phalaenopsis can be quite resilient. They do things slowly; with proper care it should recover.

Can I assume that the plant in question had little or no root system, hence the reason it continually fell out of the pot. Particularly when the root system is poor, but a good idea on any repot, the use of a rhizome clip is a good idea in order to stabilize the plant until new roots grow and it becomes established. Young root tips are easily damaged if the plant is loose in the pot.

As for your question of if the plant will survive, I think with proper care and potting it will be fine in time. Just don't overpot it. Orchids are more resilient then given credit for.
