Default Aoki starburst Cattleya wilting leaf

Is it normal for the Cattleya to have black around the pseudo bulb, and to start wilting? I tore some of the papery sheath off since it started turning black and the whole leaf is wilting. Is this fungus or did I just mess up a perfectly healthy plant?
