Default Americans obsessed with their orchids

Yes, indeed Jeff it is a sickness...ingenious

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060624/...chid_obsession

It takes all the fun out of raising our chids from seedlings to adulthood,, blooming "priceless".

I think this article is a great tool for anyone with a wife who doesn't share the orchid addiction. just show it to her and say "look honey, I'm not addicted, because I actually take care of all my plants..."

it's guaranteed to work.

hubby loves his boats for fishing the deep blue, so we obviously get along with our own personal hobbies. Nothing better than an ace in the hole.

I think the people that opened that business are pure genius! What a great money-making way to help all those poor people who can't stand to have an unbloomed 'chid in the house

So...I was seeing one of my patients in the hospital today, and she is one of these old ladies with more money than she knows what to do with, and she had a couple of those overpriced phal gift baskets sitting in her room.

I made a comment about how I liked her orchids and they looked really nice, and that I had a few orchids at home. she asked me a few questions about them and then told me that she sends all of her orchids to a boarding service because she's never been able to make them bloom.

good timing on the article, eh?

Small world. As I am reading your post was thinking (with fingers crossed) the ending results would have been your personal boarding orchid area. I just think not being able to see their growth takes all the fun out of it...makes me happy happy happy watching them bloom
